SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Programs, manages the day-to-day operations and supervision of program personnel for the DDS Community Experience Program and the Opportunities for Older Adults Program.  Responsible for implementing and monitoring policies, procedures and outcomes to insure quality services for clients served.  Participates in program budget development and manages services within budget guidelines.  Works in conjunction with other peer managers to insure appropriate service delivery to meet clients’ changing needs.  Acts as a liaison with stakeholders to promote Kuhn in a positive manner within the community. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: CEP Facilitators and OOA Facilitators.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:  This position requires typical work operations and responsibilities as to but not limited to:


  1. 1.                  Treat all program participants with respect and dignity in all interactions.         
  2. 2.                  Responsible for the day-to-day operation of OOA and CEP in compliance with all policies, rules, regulations and standards.
  3. 3.                  Meet with OOA and CEP personnel to provide supervisory support on an ongoing basis and for disciplinary action when needed.  Document personnel actions and staff performance evaluations in accordance with Kuhn policies. 
  4. 4.                  Work with OOA and CEP staff to insure quality services through the development and implementation of individualized program and/ or behavioral plans, proper data collection and report writing. 
  5. 5.                  Establish and maintain effective communication with all Kuhn staff and management.
  6. 6.                  Develop, implement and monitor Outcome Measures for the OOA and CEP Programs in accordance with “Best Practices” and DDS requirements. 
  7. 7.                  Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
  8. 8.                  Ensure Kuhn representation and participation at all client-related meetings with DDS, residential providers, family members and other stakeholders.
  9. 9.                  Coordinate appropriate community experience activities in conjunction with each client’s individualized program plan.
  10. 10.              Insure appropriate oversight for clients’ medication administration as necessary.
  11. 11.              Assist in the maintenance of current, confidential record keeping systems for client information.
  12. 12.              Work cooperatively with other administrative staff to develop and implement appropriate training activities.

  1. 13.              Develop and monitor program budgets and operate program activities within budget guidelines. Participate in DDS contract negotiations and reviews as appropriate.
  2. 14.              Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of program staff payroll records. 
  3. 15.              Monitor for a safe physical environment all staff and clients.
  4. 16.              Assume direct care service and transportation duties as required.
  5. 17.              Maintain exceptional attendance and timeliness on an ongoing basis.
  6. 18.              Other duties as required.



  1. 1.                  Responsible for performing work duties in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety procedures and providing input into enhancing overall agency safety.   
  2. 2.                  Assist the Director of Programs with client intake and client movement in accordance with Kuhn policies and procedures.
  3. 3.                  Works with and assists others as required.  Performs additional duties at the request of the management.
  4. 4.                  Represent Kuhn in a professional manner and work cooperatively with stakeholders to ensure that the mission of Kuhn Employment Opportunities is achieved.
  5. 5.                  Participate in relevant seminars/ conferences; keep abreast of current trends in business and rehabilitation. Attend trade association and other pertinent meetings.



  1. BA in Human Services or related field plus minimum of 3 years working in the I/DD field and / or day program experience.  Supervisory experience preferred.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  3. Effective communication skills and proven ability to work as a team member.
  4. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  5. Obtain and/or maintain CPR/ PMT/ First Aid certification and DDS medication administration certification.
  6. Valid Connecticut drivers license with Public Passenger endorsement.
  7. Automobile insurance in force per Kuhn’s specifications when using personal vehicle for work related purposes.




Ability to perform all physical aspects of essential duties, perform PMT, implement behavior plans which require physical assists and emergency restraints.
