TITLE: Transportation Driver

Summary:

Drivers are responsible for the safe operation and general maintenance of company vehicles. This involves, but is not limited to, transportation of passengers, as well as making material deliveries. Additional responsibilities include maintaining detailed and accurate records regarding passengers and vehicles. Must be able to provide safe transportation to individuals with a wide range of disabilities.

Essential Duties & Daily Tasks:

This position requires such typical work operations and responsibilities as, but not limited to:

  • Working with members of the Administrative Team to develop and maintain scheduled pickup and delivery of agency’s program participants, visitors, and guests. Actively work and support a split shift schedule.
  • Assisting passengers as required to enter and leave company vehicles.
  • Complete and maintain timely records required for accountability in the area of program participant attendance, mileage and maintenance, expense and incident reports, delivery logs and vehicle inspections.
  • Taking necessary preventative action to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of the passenger emergency number book and updating when required.
  • Participating in field trips and assisting with program participant supervision.
  • Participating in all required training such as, First Aid, Fire Safety, etc.

Other Duties:

  • Working with the Transportation Coordinator to develop efficient transportation routes.
  • Responsible for performing work duties in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety practices and providing input into enhancing overall company safety.
  • Working with and assisting others as required. Performing additional duties at the request of the Administrative Team.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of assigned company vehicles, including cleaning inside and out.

Requirements:

  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license. Public Passenger Endorsement desirable.
  • Satisfactory driving record.
  • Pass all local, state and federal requirements for obtaining and maintaining an active and valid Public Passenger Endorsement, “F” Endorsement, and/or CDL-P Endorsement.
  • Ability to operate vehicle accessibility equipment, wheelchair lift and tie downs. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and routine checkups is necessary.
  • Obtain and/or maintain active CPR Certification and PMT Certification.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Access to reliable transportation to get to and from work.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to assist clients with limited mobility onto and off of vehicles.
  • Ability to lift materials onto and off of vehicles. Lifting a minimum of 20 pounds numerous times each day is required.
  • Ability to safely operate all Kuhn vehicles, according to company guidelines.
